Hello! My name is Ajyah Ford and I am the youngest sophomore in the theatre department at Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Since I was a child, I've been the most dramatic child in my entire family. As you can tell, it was not a phase. I love the art of theatre. This school, this department and this community has become my home (being that I'm here for ten hours per day). Here in the theatre department, sadly, we are underfunded. The district will not give the department money, but as a school built on strength and culture...WE PUSH THROUGH!! The theatre department will keep producing excellence and holding down the legacy of our founders, Peggy Cooper Cafritz and Mike Malone. With this money we will put on shows like the annual senior showcase and last years amazing performance of Twelve Angry Jurors. But not without your help. In order to support not only my dreams but my theatre families dreams, donations are deeply needed. EVERY PENNY COUNTS!!! Thank you so much! Love you madly <3

Support Us!
In the Theatre Department, students aren't just taught how to act. They are taught how to create the stories they want to see. They are given the tools to shape the world around them with their art. Ellington relies on the generosity of parents and donors to ensure that our students receive the highest level of pre-professional training and performance opportunities. Donations enable them to create sets, craft costumes, power technical capabilities, hire additional instructors, and fund classes with Master Acting Teachers like the renowned Professor Vera Katz.
Celebrate With Us!
Once upon a time there was an enchanted land full of magical spells, beautiful maidens, and true love where everyone lived happily ever after. Or did they??? Take a magical tour through the enchanted forests of Georgetown and learn what really happened to Rapunzel, Jasmine, Hansel and Gretel and other misrepresented characters during an interactive live show. After the performance, get more of the real scoop while you fly high on the moon bounces with Aladdin, play croquet with Alice, eat homemade treats with Tiana, and dance like the clock will never strike 12 with Cinderella! Enchanted showtimes are at 10:30 and 12. Dress as your favorite misrepresented fairytale character for a special gift from the Prince!
